Pressemeldung EBN vom 22.Nov. 2019

Destino, Gestüt Westerberg’s new stallion for 2020, enjoys himself in his paddock at the beautiful establishment, set high above the Rhine to the south west of Ingelheim, a lovely part of the world to visit, with some of the best vineyards in Germany all around. The son of Germany’s leading sire Soldier Hollow won a Gr.3 and came second in both the Gr.1 Deutsches Derby and Gr.2 Union-Rennen. His owner and breeder Helmut von Finck hoped he would follow in the footsteps of his full-brother Dschingis Secret, who now stands in France. He was third in the Deutsches Derby and become a Champion at four, but sadly Destino was injured before he could fulfil that promise.

His dam Divya (Platini) has been a loyal partner to Soldier Hollow, whom von Finck raced, and not only has she produced Destino and Dschingis Secret, who won the Gr. 1 Grosser Preis von Berlin and four Gr.2s in total, but also the Gr.2-placed Diana Storm and the Gr.3-placed Dschingis First by him.

“He is the only son of Soldier Hollow in Germany,” explained Peter Rodde, who manages the stud with his wife Aline, whose family founded the stud in 1912. “He is very much in the mould of his sire, uncannily so, with great balance and bone, and it was because of this, as well as the form he showed, that Herr von Finck wanted him to stand here in Germany and we are very glad to have him. He is very easy to deal with and I think he is very good value at €3,000.”
